Books and Whimsy

Anne Bishop's Black Jewels trilogy remains firmly seated as one of the most unique collection of novels I have ever read. The novella, and two novels that followed were fascinating and heart-felt, and impossible to walk away from, impossible to call anything short of "amazing."

However, it had been quite some time since I had read a novel set in the Black Jewels 'verse. I wasn't sure how this novel would make me feel - awed, nostalgic, emotional, scared.

When I cried reading the first chapter, I knew I was home.

In short: read this novel. Read this series. Start with Daughter of the Blood and keep going. You won't regret it. These novels are changing my point of view and my hopes and my life. And that is the truth.
