This novel is a fascinating glimpse into a young girl's struggle to have a say in what happens to her body. After years of giving of herself - literally - to her older sister Kate, who has a certain form of leukemia, Anna Fitzgerald decides it is time she had a choice. She sues for medical emancipation, which sets the stage for this heartwrenching book, but the real story here is about the family, the members, their struggles and triumphs.
Four stars, definitely. I laughed, I yearned, with Anna for her freedom. I cried, more than once. This book was a journey I won't soon forget.
